Please can anyone help and answer my question:
Im with virgin under a 12 month contract and I have 8 months left, however we are moving out of the house after a family break up, i have tried contacting virgin to tell them i wish to leave their services as my new address isnt covered by them.
After speaking to a very rude man on the phone he told me i am liable to pay the full 12 months contract, is this true? i was once told by an estate agent 12 months ago that i am contracted to the property address and if i move then they cant make me pay?
Who's right? virgin man told me i was a snotty cow and that i should speak to a solicitor? blooming charming!
Thanks in advance, Nicky

Estate agents are not exactly known for their ability to tell the truth, and he's just wrong in this situation.
As has been said Virgin are correct, you signed a 12 month contract. You could write and complain about the service they gave you, and get some goodwill but you'll be paying 8x the monthly cost to get out of the contract.
That said call them up and use the "I'm thinking of leaving" option, explain the situation to the person on the end, and be calm and polite (they are only doing their job, they don't set the rules) you may be able to drop down to a ADSL service in where-ever you go to, or they can do something to help. Getting irate and demanding will get there back up and after all your the one who is trying to get something changed, VM are within there right to ask for the rest of the payment up front to end the contract.
If the service is in joint names you may be able to pass on half the bill to your partner, but unfortunatly you will more than likely have to pay something to get out of the contract.
Good luck0 -
Yeah dropping down to a normal ADSL option would probably work0
