is it ok for guests to wear black to a wedding?

I wanted a black dress myself as a bride lol, but had a white one, just to keep everyone happy (i had white doctor martens boots on just a bit more my style though hehe). My hubby wore a black suit, as did my son, and we had guests in black and i didn't think twice about any associations with funerals, They could have come dressed in Jeans for all i care, as long as they came!!If google doesn't know it, how should i?0

Definately go for it! You want to feel comfortable as it's a long day if you feel like you're wearing the wrong thing!
I won't be bothered if anyone wears black to our wedding. In fact, the male wedding party are wearing black kilts with black shirts. And like someone else said, most men wear black suits so why should it be ok for them and not for women?
Black is very 'in' for weddings at the moment with a lot of couples choosing it in their colour scheme. I think the association with it only being for funerals is long gone.

I wore a black bridesmaid dress to my best mates - then re-wore it for total MSE style this year to my Uni mates wedding. Just text her asking if I was okey doke to wear black.0

Defintiely go for it. It will look fab with the colour accents aswell. I am wearing a black and turquoise silk dress for a wedding in 9 weeks, and will be having a turquoise pashmina with it. I will not be bothered at all if someone turns up to our wedding in black, as long as they are comfortable is all that matters, Tiger xMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

Depends on how the bride and groom are (I know of one wedding they insisted all wore green and yellow in) - I'm not sure I'll risk it for the wedding I'm going to soon as I think it would provoke a bit of a bridezilla moment.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
