is it ok for guests to wear black to a wedding?

I am going to a wedding in august. it starts mid afternoon and goes on into the evening.
I am currently trying to slim down and have a dress in my wardrobe that i love and feel amazing and confident in which doesn't happen often! The only problem is that it is black.
do any of you brides see this being an issue? I thought if i got a coloured cardigan or bolero and some coloured accessories to go with it then i would be ok but other people are telling me that back is a big no no
what do you think?

My bridesmaids wore black - my wedding dress was cream and black - me personally I wouldn't find any problems with this, most of my guests ended up coming in black prom dresses - or such like....
Personal preference i guess hon...
I like the idea of a coloured cardi or bolero type thing.. it's injecting some colourcould also have some funky coloured shoes and accessories?

I think absolutely you should wear it. With bright or patterned accessories will be lovely. Polka dot scarf perhaps. I would definitely recommend wearing it as you'll feel good in it with accessories the black will be hardly noticed. Think black is often worn by guests these days anyway.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I wore a mainly black dress with red flowers and a huge black hat to a wedding earlier in the year. The bride had even seen my dress while we were out shopping and encouraged me to buy it. PM if you want and I'll send you a pic of the outfit I wore.
The wedding I went to the year before, a friend wore a black dress with a white belt and looked great. If in doubt, look through photographer websites and you'll not have to look far to come across photos with someone wearing a black outfit.Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Absolutely.....I've been to dozens of weddings (ex registrar) where loads of women wear black. Its very elegant and classy looking and gives you an air of confidence!
Go for it!!

ps....Ivory or white accessories look especially fab - monochrome is timeless!Women marry men hoping they will change, men marry women hoping they won't! Inevitably they will both be disappointed.Albert Einstein:smileyhea0 -

As MOB I have found a lovely black suit, but have been told I'm not wearing it by everyone except my daughter who is encouraging me to get some bright accessories to go with it. Im now looking for something else although Im not a pastel shades person. However, as a guest I would have no hesitation in wearing it nor would object to anyone else. I have seen lots of guests in black.0

Hi I am going to a wedding wearing a black dress, and then my friend is borrowing the dress to wear it to my wedding in August.
I'm sure your friend wouldn't mind what you wear as long as you are comfortable wearing it - they will just be glad to have you there. If you aren't sure you could always ask her if she minds.£2008 for 2008 club member 3360 -
