using cc to obtain mobile contract
Options
hi there. not sure if anyone actually knows the answer but i have a friend who wants to take out a mobile contract. she is currently spending £60 on payg and the contract offeres much better value. thing is, her credit card is one she has from her mother as a secondary card holder and is registered at her mums addy. when signing up, does she use her mums addy or her own given that the account is located elsewhere? is this likely to cause a problem in obtaining the contract as her electrol is registered at her own addy.

If she is using the card to support a store purchase, the address the card is registered to is immaterial, as long as it is in her name. It is only when mail order will this become a considerastion. I's figt shy od setting up a continuous payment mandate for a mobile contract, there are no equivalent DD 'guarantees' and if it ends in tears, they'll keep on taking the money and you CANNOT cancel it.0

If your friend meets the requirements for taking out a mobile contract, then she is old enough to have a bank account from which a direct debit will be set up to pay the monthly line rental. Phone companies rarely allow alternative payments without imposing a large deposit on the account in case of defaulting on payments.
Credit checking is performed on the person and the address they supply for phone delivery and bills.
She can, in most cases use her mom's credit card to pay for initial one off costs, i.e. handset, delivery, admin, accessories, etc... but if she buys on line then most companies only deliver to the card holders address, so her mom will receive the goods.
Depending on where you buy, Direct Debit is automatically assumed where alternative methods of payments has to be arranged over the phone.0
