Advice on changing phone

HI

I currently have a Nokia N95 8GB - its about 13 months old on a Vodaphone 18 month contract. I've been with Vodaphone for around 9 years.
They're starting to seem expensive in comparison to other phone deals and I'm 99% sure i'll be changing my provider and phone.

Question is - I would like one of those Deals that give you a free gift (a PS3 in my case) but I would also like to have the new provider/shop buy out the remainder of my contract - is this possible? and has anyone done both before??

Let me know your advice on doing this. If its not possible i'll just wait till month 16 and say i'm not renewing and change phone then.

Thanks
Paul

I dont know anything about buy out deals.

I had the nokia n95 8gig on 12 month plan with o2 (it was upgrade in june 2008) - £30 a month. Flogged the phone for £145. I could go into reasons why I didnt like it.

You could do the same and get another contract - use your exisitng sim for with a cheap old phone.

The only drawback is you end up with two lots of numbers, no problem if the numbers are not important.

Best deals for PS3, phones4, dialaphone etc. I got an lg cookie, cheap and chirpy (naff for texting I think) but still cheap - 12 month contract with t mobile (no gift).

I'm just looking around now and saw a deal on DialaPhone as you mentioned:

    Nokia 5800 + Next Day Delivery + 8GB Memory Card + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Mobile internet browsing + 900 Minutes + Sony PS3 80GB. 18 Month Contract for £48.81 a month on Vodaphone.

That sounds really good to me??

Take your time - I would have thought at £48.81 - it would be cheaper to get a cheaper line rental - say £25 and buy the PS3 separately.

Personally I prefer PSP - have the PS2 - only used it for a few hours since having it for over a year now I think.

And I think there is a newer version of the 5800 nokia out or something, at least e75.

If I could I would get the Sony X1 or just Android or iphone.

Thats the thing with phones - i hate all my phone for the first 2 months.

I'll keep looking as I dont really want to go past £35 a month on a good deal cos like you said I could buy a new PS3 and pay monthly for that from the likes of Argos

If it's the Nokia 5800 you're after (each to their own!) then mobiles.co.uk have it on an 18 month TMobile deal with 700 Mins + Unlimited Texts + Unlimited web browsing for £35 pm.

You can choose a free gift but the cashback deal might be better as far as helping pay off your current contract? They'll give you £80 straightaway, or the equivalent of 11 months half price line rental (through cashback over the period).

    Best of luck.

    I can beat that (well on 24 months) phones 4u, £25 a month, 600 mins, 3000 texts.

But dialphone have even better deal - 24 months, £18.75 after cashback, 600 mins, unlimited texts, O2 with 8 gig memory card - COR damn should have got that myself GRRR. Oldish phone though - newer ones out.

It would mean putting up with a Nokia 5800 for 2 years... Also when you factor in cashback the mobiles.co.uk deal works out at £24.31 pw for (a few) more minutes but also mobile web. Oh and it does come with an 8GB microSD card.

'Course if you want a phone that might still be doing what you want in 18 months time give the HTC Diamond2 a shot - my order's goin in next week!

Yep 2 years too long - I have never had a contract longer than 12 months and I intend to stay that way. I wish other people would stop going for the longer deals and get back the good old days when mobile companies gave us naff phones which lasted for 12 months and 1 day (1 day to change to the next phone) :rotfl:
