It depends on your account activity I believe, and they also have a feed from experian. When I asked for an overdraft, they didn't credit check, they just looked at my HSBC account conduct and said they'd be happy to give me what I wanted.

When I asked for a 1k credit card, they ran a credit check and asked why I had 60 searches and that it made me look desperate for credit and therefore they could not give me a card at the moment, though I should ask them again in 6-12 months (I asked after opening my first account, so had no previous account conduct, bar HSBC).

When I applied, I phoned them after sending back my signed form and the guy opened my account and gave me the details there and then on the phone. It's worth ringing them as they'll push things through.

NID I have just read the first couple of pages of your thread and now skipped to the last, I cannot believe you are still trying to get a FD a/c. Surely they should give you one for persistence alone!!! lol.

That said I love FD and would never leave them, the fact that they answer the phone in person straight away is pure bliss to me. Good luck :0)

I have been with FD for 9 years now and I just love them - they answer the phone and you don't have to go through the rigmarole of an automated service. I would never leave them either.

have a read of page 1 mate - it tells the main story of me last year! However I had 300+ searches back then, now I have less than 50 (maybe more than 40 though)! haha
