Bank telling every one except me account is closed

Are you saying that an employee has phoned up all the direct debit companies and said 'Hi im calling from Abbey and want to tell you that we have closed the bank account of cosmictramp.'
The OP needs to make his mind up. He states the account is closed then says Abbey are lying about that. The OP is defo on a wind up here and making the whole thing up.0 -
No I am saying that there is an error on Abbey's computer system
(do you work in a bank and understand the DD backend system, no one physically phones an originator, everthing is done electronically unless there is a major dispute or error) and it is sending messages to DD originators stating DD cancelled account closed, or the account is closed and this happens automatically in such cases.
However, it would appear to be the former.
Edit: is there a difference between the computer error sending out a message saying the account is closed and an individual from the bank calling up an originator and saying it is closed due to an error, I dont think the OP is peddling anything maybe just not some things wording very well from which you are taking advantage to agitate them.0 -

My Account is NOT closed as far as I am aware.
1. I have not closed the account
2. Abbey have not told me that they have closed the account
3. To date I have had four (4) communications in writing from people that I have set up Direct Debits with whom have been told by Abbey (maybe their computers I do not known) that my Direct Debits will not be honoured because my account is closed.
4. Abbey - a person in their call centre whom I called last Saturday morning - has told me that my account is open and that they will send me a letter to that effect - I have not received that letter nor have I received my last statement, and my online access has been stopped.
And just in case it is relevent during March I had money taken out of my account by o2 and by Parcelforce, I filled in all the forms that their fraud department sent to me. They fully accepted that these amounts were fraudulent.
I resent the assertions Simon is making about me - he does not know me nor I him and how can he know what Abbey are saying - all the companies that have so far been told that my account is closed cannot all be lying to me?
It looks that maybe the best thing for me is to go to somewhere that I might get answers instead of being accused of lying. I am upset by some of the things that I have read here.0 -

theres obviously been an error somewhere, abbey arent clearly aware of this error - hence why they are telling you your acc is still open rather than saying
"yes your account is still open however we are aware of an issue where DDs are being rejected and indicating to the originators that it is because your account is closed.
this is an error, we apologise"
my suggestion would be cancel the direct debits and reset them0
