Can I keep it?

I bought a DVD set on ebayusing BIN which was swiftly dispatched - only it is the wrong one! The box they sent me is also a BIN but a lot more expensive ( 24 discs against the 3 ).

The seller is prepared to replace it and pay the return postage but to be honest I cannot be bothered. I am going to have to package it up and getting to a post office during their opening hours is going to be difficult - all the local ones have been closed and I don't want to have to drive into the city centre and pay car parking etc + waste half a Saturday morning.

So can I keep it? It will make a good birthday present for someone I know.

If it makes any difference this is a huge ebay business with a lot of feedback mentioning that the wrong thing was sent.

  • What would you have done if it had been a cheaper version sent?

    Kept it?

You are not being lazy, you are deliberately trying to benefit from an error. They have every right to it back so do so.

Far too many schemeing manipulative !!!!!! on here these days. a lot of it amounts to fraud and theft.

Send it back and await the right DVD

It will cost me £4 car parking, 20 miles of petrol and a good chunk of my precious little time off a week. None of this will be refundable. Postage costs will be £5+. It's heavy. As it came with free postage then the seller will not be making a profit by me returning it and sending me the correct one. In fact it will almost certainly cost them.

If the seller is prepared to send someone to collect it they can have it and welcome.

Money isn't everything you know and yes if it had been a cheaper one I would have exactly the same attitude but I don't expect you to believe that.
  • Course you would

And no it doesnt have to cost you all these things. you are deliberately looking for obstructions so you can keep it.

Didn't you say that the seller is prepared to pay return postage costs?

    1. You live 20 miles from the nearest Post Office......BS!
    2. £4 to park? Ask the seller to pay your costs...his mistake.
    3. You are looking for someone to tell you its OK to steal.

This seems like a made up thread.
If it isn't and its genuine you are VERY close to being a thief and i hope your house is burgled whilst you are out. (the seller has your address remember........revenge tastes good).

Forget the excuses for not sending it back. the op said the seller is prepared to replace it. Has the seller insisted on replacing it or have they left it up to you to decide?

If the seller has demanded you replace it, ask for your expenses (Reasonable expenses no BS) to be paid prior to you posting it back and then do the right thing and post it back.

    Could not agree more.

    The goods are not yours.
You know they are not yours.
If you keep them or dispose of them, it is theft.

Its because of that type of attitude that ebay has become a hotbed of dishonesty and why genuine sellers and buyers cant be bothered with it anymore.
