  • Can someone post a link to where this offer is available? I moved into my new property a while back and have not yet paid the BT installation fee. I always thought it had to be done through BT then after that it was up to you who you went with?

Yeah it's just BT Wholesale (I think they're called), who install lines for other providers who use their lines.

Thats wrong though. BT wil either charge on a 'Whole Bill Direct Debit' where whats due is taken, or a 'Monthly Payment Plan' where they agre a set ammount in advance. It may be that they now ask for £25 on an MPP, I dont know as I dont work there anymore.:j
(edit: unless the £25 was just the total for phone and BB of course. In which case fair enough)

Either way its pointless and a tad stupid to complain about the non DD charge and call it unfair then reccomend a company with a higher one without pointing it out.

And for the record, I dont have anything to do with BT either as a customer or as staff. :)

I pay everything by direct debit so to be charged a set £25 a month when all I was using was line rental as I use my mobile for calls is rediculous. Which is why I cancelled the direct debit only to find out about the £4.50 fee after I paid my bill next time. Its a rip off either way. With Sky you have a set price and no problems, I didn't know they had a non direct debit fee as I've never had to use that as they are reasonable in the direct debit they take.

Yes I got the mid broadband package and 4 of the tv packages so a tad more expensive.

Also very happy with sky, I have the full tv, broadband and phone package. I was paying a fortune with BT, seemed like every month the bill was higher despite having a fixed charge for broadband and free calls in the evening, which is the only time we use the phone- it was £87 one month! AND I actually get to talk to someone when I call sky customer services, even if it's to cancel or change something- with BT, I could only ever get through to the sales team...

Sky offered me free line rental when I was thinking of moving over to Virgin (I was with BT at that time)

I don't think it is a particular offer, just phone Sky and explain your situation!! I saw the free sky+ box, free broadband and free phone offer in the papers and rang them on the off chance. I had two potential problems in that I live in a flat (new build though so has sky connectors at back of TV already) and also that I dont have a phone line installed as was refusing to pay an extortionate £122.50 to BT to connect it (a lot of people seem to think Sky wont install without a phone line already installed)!!

No problem though!! Sky put me through to the people who deal with flat installations, they would do the standard install of the sky box for £30 and for an additional £25 will install the phone line for me (£100 cheaper than BT quoted)!!

Bonus!! Now for £26.50 a month, I'm going to get TV, phone and broadband - fantastic!! :j
