Hi ya, I was wondering if someone can help. I am running Windows Vista and I am trying to view a Webcam from a hotel. It keeps telling me that OCX is not permitted by windows. What can I do to get this to work. Many Thanks

Which browser are you using?0

You'll probably find that in your security settings you've not allowed active content. As soon as you said hotel and webcam I had 'exotic' images in my mind. Be sure that the you want to take the security risk before permitting this OCX function. But to find your security setting, in Internet explorer go to tools > internet options.0

A better way to achieve the same effect - assuming that you really do trust the hotel website - is to leave the internet security settings as they are, but add the website to your "Trusted Zone" sites list.
That way you don't have to worry about forgetting to change the security settings back and then having some other website use active content to install something unwanted on your PC.0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thanks for that. There is nothing exotic about it. We are heading to Gran Canaria on Thursday and the hotel that we stay in has a Webcam and we wanted to see if there are many people around the resort. Thats all.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I will try all that you said and let you know.Winnings 2009: Rimmel Pro Lycra Nail Polish.

Hello, sorry to be a pain but I done both the things you suggested and when it goes into the webcam it says No Windows Permission to download OCX. What else can I do?. Could it be the webcam?. The website is www.hotelgreenfield.com.Winnings 2009: Rimmel Pro Lycra Nail Polish.

I can't view the webcam either. I suspect that part of the problem is that the hotel website redirects to an IP address, not a URL.
In theory it should work if you add that IP address as a trusted site, although that doesn't work for me with FireFox.0 -
Thanks for your help on this. I guess I will just leave it alone. At least now I know its just not my computer. Thank You.Winnings 2009: Rimmel Pro Lycra Nail Polish.

I got to it okay using IE8, installing a .cab file and running the ActiveXThe website is www.hotelgreenfield.com.
The .cab file took a little while. It only worked with IE, it didn't try to download using Firefox
As you can see, there is hardly anyone around the pool when I snapped this. It fails login from the main link but after the error message, you can choose to login as a Guest.
You can see the pool or the street outside
