Hi Pawpurrs, would you mind letting me know how you make both the hummus and mackeral pate, they sound lovely. Thanks in advance

I sold mine at a car boot sale 'cos I never used it.

We bought a Merlin 123 (same as a bullet) either last year or the year before and use it almost everyday.

Blending soups & sauces, making milkshakes, chicken nuggets, blending veg so my kids don't realise they're eating it! etc.

Its fab & easy to clean :D
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I have a Magimix and I use it every day - really.

I make pastry - it does a really good job.
I fine chop garlic and chop onions.
I slice and dice all the vegetables I use for soup
I grate cheese or nutmeg or carrots.
I slice lettuce or cabbage and carrots for coleslaw
I mix mince and other ingredients for burgers or meatballs
    I make breadcrumbs
I whisk egg whites for meringues or souflee type foods.
I make frothy ice cream milk shakes with fresh fruit and skimmed milk...mmmmmm!

It is out on the kitchen top all the time and cleans really easily ready for the next item.

I bless the day I bought it, because it speeds up all my tasks and allows me to work full time, but still prepare fresh cooked food cheaply.

I have a Magimix which I bought when I was doing catering jobs. It's maybe 18 years old and gets less use now . I'd certainly recommend a Magimix as it is more powerful than some on the market. I still use it for
    pastry
breadcrumbs- I keep these in the freezer for stuffings and coating chicken or fish
    fishcakes
slicing parsnips and potatoes into thin slices to layer and bake with cheese and cream
grating carrots for salads or carrot cake
chopping parsley or fresh herbs( only if I do a lot at a time)
    making batter for pancakes (foolproof)

I just put all the bits in the dishwasher so I don't find the washing up too hard
if i had known then what i know now

    I use mine for:
breadcrumbs/cheesy breadcrumbs (how do people without food processors make them?)
pureeing pizza and pasta sauces containing veg
    beating egg whites

Umm - I'm sure I use it for more than that as there always seems to be bits of it in the sink!

I bought a food processor a few years ago because all of the chefs on the telly used them. It sat around looking all shiny on the work top for a while untill I decided to make some coleslaw. I couldnt get it to work so it sat around for probably another year collecting dust untill it was relegated to the back of the cupboard. A few weeks ago I was making soup and I decided to give it another go - hey presto it worked ( I wasnt clicking the bowl into place ). I am definately a convert now. Ive blended soups, grated cheese, chopped veggies for stews - the best thing though is no more tears when cutting up onions ;)

I've recently invested in a Kenwood Chef as I found that due to deteriorating psoriatc arthritis I couldn't use my food processor and several other kitchen gadgets easily, and now am able to do many things I thought I'd never do again. It makes cakes, bread, pastry, blends, slices and grates, peels potatoes and other root veggies, and I'm considering buying the juicer/citus extrator attachment, and the ice cream maker. I find it much easier to use and clean than all the other seperate gadgets, and though a bit pricey I wish I'd bought it in the first place. I now have to find good homes for all my redundant kitchen aids and have freed up lots of cupboard space. I used to use my processor for many of these jobs but found cleaning it a a pain and almost lost several fingers using a mandolin! Lots of nice soups and salady things are back on the menu chez frankiep's now

I never knew there was a machine out there that could peel potatoes? that is amazing, it would be such a time saver for me, only thing is those kenwood chefs are very expensive. Better start saving!! I am glad you can do all those things you mentioned again, must be very liberating for you. Take care.
