Sky System Warranty - is it necessary?

Options
I had a sales call the other evening to say that my Sky warranty was due to expire shortly and I was offered some sort of Protection Plan (I can't remember the exact monthly cost - I think it was about £8 a month).

They said that if I required a service call when the warranty had expired, the minimum call out fee would be £70 or thereabouts.

I just wondered how everyone else covered their boxes and if other people had taken out this sort of cover.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

TIA

Sky will come and repair a fault with your dish wiring or box for £69, its a flat fee not a minimum.
If you call them out more than once per year you win otherwise you lose.

Some people have received free service calls by suggesting they would rather cancel their package than pay for a repair.
Sky offer their own insurance and certain other companies featured on Watchdog last year for pretending to be Sky.
