Hi all,
I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, so please forgive me! I have only been entering comps for a few weeks, but my thinking is that it's a waste of time entering for little things like cd's t-shirts etc, so have really only been concentrating on stuff I want, ie, mobile phone, perfume, TV's, Games etc. My question is, am I aiming too high? How frequently are these type of prizes realistically won?

Well my first thought is....if you don't want something, don't enter to win it. There's no point entering loads of cd comps if you don't even want the cd is there?Personally I enter every comp where the prize interests me or I can make use of it.
"You gotta be in it to win it!".The more you enter, the more chance you have of winning.
Sometimes I have been a little too broad minded about whether I can make use of the prize (last year I won a 5 litre ( ) tub of slug repellent.....now slugs were causing me a problem....so it came in handy....but 5 litres is an awful lot of slug repellent and I don't have *that* many slugs here)! :rotfl::rotfl:
I would say you have less chance of winning the bigger prizes (i.e. mobiles, consoles, TV's etc) because there are less of these comps, more people will enter those comps and generally there is only one prize on offer. With some of the smaller prizes there can be 100 given away, so your chances are better.
I see comping as a fun, rewarding, hobby that keeps me occupied whilst I am job hunting and I love getting little surprises through the post!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -

If you think it's a waste of time, then don't enter, but the chances of winning a big prize are small, because many people enter. But that doesn't mean you should enter small ones just for the sake of winning, only thing is it will probably take a lot longer before you get your first win. BTW perfume and games are a bit easier to win that the rest you mentioned.0 -

ISP Warn Promoters About Online Competition Cheats
The Institute of Sales Promotion (ISP) have finally started warning promoters about cheating in online competitions. They have issued advice to companies that run competitions to tighten up their terms and conditions regarding entry restrictions due to increases in multiple entries..My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

hmm interesting.. I think they are right to try & stop cheats, it would be much fairer if everyone only entered once... although some comps allow as many entries as you want which I think a lot of people take advantage of.
I only enter comps once unless its a big daily promotion like big snap etc... in which case I put the time & effort in so think I deserve the odd win lol!!Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

What was the name of the company who phoned you? If it was PrizeBreaks and they asked you to confirm your answers to these questions
Are you married or co-habiting? YES NO Are you a home owner? YES NO Are you (or your partner) in full time employment? YES NO
Then I'm afraid that they're timeshare.0 -

Prize Breaks are Club la Costa. Lots of people on this site have "won" holidays with them. See, for example,

Don't give them any money. Real prizes are free0
