If you have a look in the Comping Guide it goes through lots of things like you are asking

To answer the question you have asked here, please go to the Comping Guide, Getting Started II, 2 How do I keep track of which comps I’ve entered?

The link up there ^^ will take you directly to the post called Getting Started II (wait for the page to completely load & it jumps you to the right post!) You just have to scroll down slightly to heading number 2. You will then see screen shots & step by step instructions to help you use thread subscribing to keep track & put a little blue tick on the forum page so you don't have to go into each individual thread to see if you have thanked or not

Me again, with a question you've probably been asked a lot but: I was wondering what the success rate is for postal entries around here...how many people from the MSE forums have had wins through this method of entry? I've just started doing it properly today (as in entered 17 competitions)....

I've had my 2 major wins through postals, an £800 Armani Goodie Bag and a 32" TV, DVD Player, Bourjois Goodie Bag, 2 Shopaholic books and 6 DVDs, both in July, so they're worth doing.

Thanks BarnabySue...stamps are so pricey. I am trying to re-register with postal surveys to help!! I actually used a £5 voucher I won towards some more stamps the other day, ready to be used for postals. You've really encouraged me.

Sophie, welcome, it does help when you are new to read all the forums 1st, but I know what its like to be a NEWBIE you just can't wait to get started

AND YES WHY NOT USE LOTS AND LOTS OF EXCLAMATION MARKS...just make sure its in the right place. Lol.
I had the same complaint last week.!!!!!

i do wish you loads of luck it is a great site and most people are fantastic and really helpful.
