I dont know anyone with ADSL but the main point I was making was that most other companies just send an engineer who fits the modem and sorts it out and gets you up and running (NTL did with me!). These guys dont seem to care!

kaaloo .... IMO that's the best thing you could have done.

I have heard horror stories about this company. Two main things keep cropping up ....

    1. When using Bulldog broadband - both voice and online going simultaneously - verbal lines cut out and/or the internet connection drops. Apparently there are issues with stability of using both services toghther.

    2. If you want to leave Bulldog, to go to BT's broadband, I have heard tell that BT won't take you on once they hear you've been with Bulldog.

So now you know. Lucky escape, it seems. ;)

just plug in the ADSL modem to the master socket (with all other phone equipment disconnected) and see if it syncs.

If you unscrew the master socket, you will find the real master socket inside. Plug your filter and connection into this -there will be a plug already in there (for your internal phone wiring) so doing this will eliminate any faults in your extensions at home.

If you can get a connection, then the problem is in your internal wiring and it is up to you to get it fixed. If the problem still exists then it is down to them and they will need to send an engineer - maybe they sub this to BT.
    To infinity and beyond!

NTL is a different scenario altogether with it being cable instead of ADSL as far as i'm aware. They need to install it and configure it all for you whereas with ADSL the line is activated at the exchange and you just plug your modem in and off you go (if the line is ok). Out of all the ISP's i've used and people i know (except cable users) when we get ADSL there's no engineer callout as it's not needed.
