Bulldog Broadband - just will not work DSL issue?

Hi

A friend of mine has just had the wireless Broadband from Bulldog installed.

The thing is they sent her the equipment and expect herto be able to configure it. Ive had a go and keep getting a flashing light on the DSL led which is not supposed to happen.

Ive phoned support a few times and they say it could be a fault with the telephone extention (the pc is upstairs) and that I need to bring the pc down and connect to the master.

After hours and hours of playing with it, it simply wont work and they say they dont send engineers! This stuff is really complex if you are not a computer person and I think its poor service.

Filters are in place but even off the main socket, the DSL light keeps flashing. I suspect the wiring may be bad as its old but do Bulldog send out engineers or not??

If the light is continually flashing, I would suggest that ADSL (ie Broadband) has not yet been provisioned on your telephone line. Has the equipment arrived prior to your activation date? If not, you really need to push Bulldog to check. Unfortunatly, they do not have the best of reputations.

ask and ask and ask again if they have filters on ALL sockets. I had a very similar problem with a friend not long ago. After asking if he was sure there wasn't a phone extension in the garage or loft that he'd forgotten about he suddenly realised that the sky box was plugged into an extension behind the sofa (without a microfilter). Unlugged it and broadband worked a treat.

Also try unplugging everything from the phone extensions boxes except the broadband modem.

quite frankly, the service we have had is appalling.

The guy on the helpline ran through a series of test to see if he could reconginse the equipment and he couldnt and said it must either be a dodgy filter, router or phone line.

    The product has been activated.

THey simply refuse to send out an engineer to fix it.

I havent because they refused to send me another filter. Instead they told me to disconnect the pc and move it downstairs and try it there - bloody stupid and was a very hard thing to do - no result!

Hmmmm you don't move the PC, just plug in the ADSL modem to the master socket (with all other phone equipment disconnected) and see if it syncs.

Do you know someone else who has ADSL installed?

If so, borrow their equipment and see if it syncs.

I'd buy a new filter to start with.

As far as i know all they do is put a request in to BT to activate the ADSL part of the line so there's very little a Bulldog engineer could do.
