I got a call from LSG today offering me a Nokia 6220, Sony C902 (I think) or W705 as choices for replacement. Now my phone before was a touchscreen, am I within my rights to ask for a touchscreen phone for my replacement (none of those are)? My previous phone is the Sony P1i. I tried to call but I am out and my phone has no signal, also I'd like some pointers on how to get my way when I do call! ThanksKavanne

Hi All,
I have recently claimed on my mobile phone insurance for water damage with Lifestyle Services group who have provided my insurance through my graduate additions account with Barclay's.
In the policy it states:" The settlement we offer for the phone will be based on the current market value of the registered phone or one of similar specification and functionality (where the phone is no longer available on the general market).
I have received a replacement phone this morning (Samsung J700) which is not comparable with my Nokia 6233.
I have phoned the insurance company and have explained that the telephone is not a like for like replacement and that it was not worth claiming on my insurance and paying the £25 excess for a phone that I can purchase anywhere for £30.
The reply was there is nothing that we can do if you do not like the replacement telephone, which I replied it is not that I do not like the phone- you have not sent a comparable replacement.
I am waiting for a telephone call from a manager who will listen to the original telephone conversation.

Awful company.
My son had to get to make a claim after losing his iPhone 4 (3 months old).lifestyles took his £75 excess and then rang him to say the iPhone 4 16gig is out of stock and they would pay the money into his account so he could source One.They gave him £435.00.
I got him to ring them this morning and tell them it costs £499.99 to buy, they told him to goto amazon.co.UK search for iPhone 4 16gb click on the first search result then click on used.
I would not suggest anyone uses this for there mobile phone insurance.Started advent comps 04.12.2013

Well I've read many a review online before now and it appears to me that "some you lose, some you don't". I've been a Barclay's Additions Active account holder (with my Wife's Employee discount) for many years now and never owned an expensive mobile until a few weeks ago. The LG Nexus 4 which is encased in glass and is quite fragile. Having tried in vain to get a case as soon as I'd purchased it, the worst thing happened. Yes, I dropped it. So knowing what the deal is with the Insurance, I duly phoned to arrange a repair. Unlike the iPhone I did not require the larger of the the excesses to pay so off it went. two days later a text was sent to say the phone had been repaired. Two days later I duly collected it from the courier depot and a refurbished model was provided, and it was like new still having the chrome tape protector attached to it. It is mint. No problems, rapid service, happy as Larry. However, I do see that not everyone has experienced the same as I have. I think with phones becoming more and more like fragile mini computers, I can see premiums rising.0
