Getting SkyBB - no active BT line - best way?

Hi guys,
I've just moved in to a new house and looking to get BB connected. Unfortunately (or not) Virgin is not available and I've used Sky BB at a friends in the past and it did the trick.
New house has previously had a BT line but is currently not active.
Sky CSR recommended that I call BT up as they have a free install promotion going, only thing is I have to sign up for a 12 month contract.
Is this the only way?
Does every SkyBB subscriber pay BT monthly on a seperate bill as well as the Sky chargers, not one bill?
Cheers

Actually you would be committing to an 18 month contract - details here.

Could you get a BT line any cheaper though? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

True, so I take it everyone pays BT £12.50 whatever for a line then pays Sky £5 - £15 the subscription?
If that's the case I may as well take advantage of the free install
