    Re filling bottles up .
Speaking as a plumber I would say its not a good idea.
You see, there are 2 ways water can be supplied to a tap. The first is straight from the mains( pipe in the street) such as your kitchen sink tap at home.
The second way is from a tank ( in large buildings water is SOMETIMES stored in a tank first to act as a mini resovoir so that if all taps /toilets are used at once there is enough water). The tanks are sometimes in a dirty condition, lids missing, insects ( I have even seen dead birds) inside.
Probably better to buy water from Boots.

In addition to the above - Jelly babies are GREAT when travelling - lots of runners use them as an instant energy boost - they slip into your bag, are cheap if you get them on one of the many deals the supermarkets do on them, keep for ages if you don't need them, and, best of all, if you get the other side, just when the bus/ferry/other passengers who haven't shown up delay your onward journey and you're all about to expire from exhaustion/hunger/irritation, THAT'S the moment to produce the bag of jelly babies - but eke them out - they may have to last several hours!!

Specially useful when delayed - reduce frustration and/or anger by biting the heads off them!

Have a meal in the airport before you go to the gate, and don't bother to take anything on the plane except some water.
Surely you can go without eating for 4 hours.

Of course you can, but its one of the few things to alleviate the tedium of a 4 hour budget flight and especially if you're travelling with children.

Surely there are laws about that sort of thing? I mean, the water in staffrooms at the airport must by law be potable, and there are never any notices around saying not to drink the water...
It's not that I doubt what you say, it's just that I'd expect airports to comply with laws about public health, and I've never heard of anyone falling ill as a result of drinking water from taps in a big public building (and certainly not without there being a big public outcry).

Its true that storage tanks should comply with bylaw 30, basically a sealed lid, filters on overflow , insulated jacket etc and checked for
    Legionnaires regularly.
In practise, often tanks are out of site and out of mind and stuck in a dirty roofspace and get no attention at all.
A tap in a staffroom ( on a kitchen sink) would be fed from the mains and not a tank.

Im not saying it will poision you or saying all tanks are disgustingly filthy, Im just saying that some of them are and you have no idea of knowing which ones.

I think my problem is that I have seen some horrible tanks in my time and thats whats put me off.

To test ( not conclusive though) if the water is cold and fast its probably mains. If its a bit warm and you can stop the flow by putting a finger over the spout its from a tank.

Once you've passed through security at Glasgow you've got a couple of options for food for the flight - there's a Boots and they had a great selection of Meal Deal options at £2.99 (sandwich, snack and drink) when I was passing through mid-April.

There's also a Greggs there if you're a pie or pasty fan. Also a large WH Smith for packs of sweeties etc

    Enjoy your holiday :)

I always book the plane food because I'm on holiday and because it always guarantees us sitting together as they allocate the dining passengers in a group to make it easier to serve the meals.

Don't rely on this. I had booked meals on our last First Choice flight and we ended up sitting some seats apart !

My fiance is diabetic [type 1], and needs some form of food (or at the very least glucose tablets) on him at all times. So no, he can't go without eating for 4 hours, unfortunately.

When we came back from egypt last year, the food in the airport was really expensive.
