Australia flights!!

Hi All

I know this is yet another post about Oz flights, but from what I've noticed flights seem to be cheaper the closer you book them - or does it just depend on the seasons? Want to book for Feb 09 but am hoping to get it a bit cheaper than what is currently coming up (circa 1000), and have seen some cfor June for around £600... so was wondering what other peoples experience is? Should I wait?

Also want to spend a week over in NZ whilst I'm there - considering booking with Virgin Blue - Are these best booking sooner rather than later?

THANKS for your help!

Depends which Aus city you want to fly to, SYDney has the most competition amongst airlines and less so Adelaide and Darwin.
Also depends on the seasons aswell.

Where in the Uk can you fly from? Which city in Australia do you want to go to?

Other internal airlines include https://www.jetstar.com.au and https://www.tigerairways.com.au
https://www.qantas.com.au can have some great special offers.

I assume you mean Feb 2010

The reason flights are cheaper in June is that it's the Oz winter so not the high season.

The 'norm' for the seasons is Dec-Late Jan about £800+ and for May-Sep about £600 ish.

These are not hard and fast rules\prices as depending on Airline capacity and competition a few bargain sales can occur. Prices also vary by airline quality so remember to factor that in-A trip to Oz is a long time on board!

Booking early with Virgin Blue is usually best as they are like our budget airlines (more Easy Jet than Ryan Air) so their prices are cheaper the longer out you book.

IMHO this far out I'd wait but I think for your time of year the price will be around the £800 price.

The flights are cheap at the moment because it is winter in Australia. Flights from Dec-Mar are normally a lot higher as it's summer. I reckon the absolute best you'll get at that time of year is £850. Keep an eye on the prices for a month or 2.
