M&S Penny Bazaar Discussion

Well if its any help, I did a search on M&S stores and came up with this definition:
We have over 600 stores located throughout the UK, ranging from large out-of-town and flagship stores of over 100,000 sq ft, to Simply Food stores of around 7,000 sq ft. Our largest store is located at Marble Arch on London's Oxford Street and has around 170,000 sq ft of selling space.
So going on that definition, I would say every other store (including the food only stores) will be having these 1p sale days. Could this be every major store as oppose to some major stores?0 -
Can you imagine all the people who will "Double up" with families, each going in to get 5 items, coming out, then going back in to another queue, etc.0

Without wishing to take away from the generosity of M&S's offer (and its brilliance as a piece of retail theatre) it's worth pointing out that in those days there were 240 pennies to the pound. So even at the generous price of one moden penny, goods will have suffered inflation of 240%. Inflation is the real 'stealth tax'.

Oh my God!!! What do you want from life??
I for one, wouldn't want to return to "the good old days" when we got 240 pennies to the pound!!
Well done to Marks and Sparks. Good retail strategy in my opinion.
How do we find out which stores are offering this?

Incidentally, the food items will change from day-to-day (retro drinks and sweets).
PS - the next dine-in deal starts next Thursday too so expect your local M&S to be kinda busy during these days...
Is Doncaster on the list?0 -
are any of the sheffield stores having the 1p deals?0

In my area, all main stores (ie those which sell clothes and food) are running the penny bazaar. None of the Simple Foods round here will be and I think that will be true across the country.
The items will be split equally each day, so if they are sold out on the Wednesday, they will be available again on the Thursday morning etc.
The food items will change each day, the clothes and toys remain the same. Each store will have market stalls set up in one zone, based on the original penny bazaar. The TV ad with Twiggy goes live on Monday and is very good.
Incidentally, here are brief dine-in for £10 details for the next event which starts on Thursday 22nd for the Bank Holiday weekend:
