Internet Explorer Really Slow!!!

Hi

My internet is really slow, it has not been like this before though. I have checked the defrag even though the actual programms are working correctly, this didn't need doing i have my mcafee up to date and also done spyware doctor and ad aware and nothing!

Any suggestions???

Right-click an empty part of the Taskbar and click Task Manager. Click the Processes tab and then click twice on 'CPU' to sort the processes by descending CPU % usage.

Which process is using the most CPU? You can ignore System Idle Process which should be using about 95-99% CPU on an idle system.

just a thought - is it your internet connection (what connection do you have? does it match up with results from speed test servers on the web) or is it internet explorer (the program itself) that's slow?

does word, excel etc run normally - pick a non internet based application and try it.
do you have another browser installed - firefox for example - if so, try that and see how it behaves / responds.

couldn't get task manager up, could you explain further about this please as i just get options for other buttons.

As for it being internet explorer i am afraid i don't know that either, my word excel are fine as is my outlook express i am on talk talk 1mb broadband connection.

I had the same problem recently and turned out it was because I had plugged a new telephone into the system before the microfilter. When I plugged it in via the microfilter, everything was hunky-dory again.

What is MyWebSearch?
My Web Search also known as the My Way Speedbar is the Internet Explorer toolbar part of the Fun Web Products suite of utilities such as Smiley Central, Cursor Mania, My Mail Stationary, My Mail Signature, PopSwatter, Popular Screensavers, and the My Way website portal. The toolbar allows easy access to search engine results and a 404 Error Redirector called My Total Search among other things to your browser.

Although none of these products claim to be spyware, they do slow your computer down. All of the products use cookies to track usage, although they claim not to use cookies or anything else to track personally identifiable information. That being said, I would still recommend uninstalling the toolbar and other Fun Web Products if you feel your computer runs better without them. They are found by most spyware removal tools such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Lavasoft Ad-Aware,although they are deemed spyware safe by Aluria Software who created a Spyware SAFE Certification.


Also go to your PCs Control Panel Add/Remove programs and remove
any AOL software aswell, also go to https://www.windowsupdate.com
