Travel with a 2 month old

Just had a baby recently and we both need a hol.

We are looking at end of June and he will be 2 1/2 months old.

We dont really mind whethers its long haul or somewhere in Europe... just need a bit of sunshine.

And to be honest, cost isn't really a massive issue either.

We've done Dubai, Dom Rep, Egypt, Turkey, Gran Canaria, so dont fancy them again.

Was looking at Greece, Ibiza, Maldives etc.... but would go absolutely anywhere.

Just need recommendations for child friendly places etc.

Thanks

I travelled abroad for the first time with my daughter when she was 9 months old and we went to Spain.

I would recommend anywhere in Spain if you have a small baby as the Spanish love babies and the whole place is very child friendly.

I did both the Costa del Sol and Majorca when my daughter was tiny and would recommend both.

We are not exactly guaranteed the weather in Spain though... or are we?

Maybe one of the Greek islands will be more suitable, the Greeks are also well known for their love of children and you have a massive choice of beautiful sun drenched locations.

The greeks are extremely child/baby friendly and will make a huge fuss of your little one! I think this holds true for most of the mediterranean.

Another advantage of the Aegean Islands (the ones that are North of Crete) is that there is a cooling breeze - the Meltimi - that blows from the north most days in the summer months which will avoid overheating issues.

We visit Greece each year, and have done so with very young babies, with no problem at all. It comes as a surprise to some people but the Greeks themselves who live on the islands also have babies, so there is no problem getting stuff like nappies etc there. Do recommend getting a decent UV tent for the beach though.

  • We're going to Mauritius with our 18 mth old. Chose it cos its not too hot (believe me if it was too warm for your 2 mth old you'd know about it!!!) and seems to have very child friendly hotels.

I wouldn't take the baby on a long haul trip as his first trip until you see how he takes flying to begin with. Greece sounds lovely but why not Costa Blanca? Lots of people go there with kids of all ages ;) Alicante is lovely.

Kefalonia is beautiful - lush and green when we went in June, but shingly beaches where we were. We stayed in Fiscardo which was very picturesque and quite small (could walk one end to the other in about 15 mins) but is isolated from the rest of the island without a car.

Rhodes is busier I think. Pefkos is well priced and has a lovely long, flat, sandy beach. And the whole resort is flat and spread out. Lindos is beautiful with 2 lovely beaches but very hilly, more of a party resort but definitely worth visiting if you are in Pefkos (they are about 10 mins apart in a taxi).

Kos also has lovely beaches at Kefalos and Bubble beach (but Bubble Beach is busy). Kefalos is not too big, has a nice harbour and old town (up a big hill). We only visited Bubble beach on our quad bike. Very quiet roads, small island, easy to get around.

I would happily return to any of these resorts - but we don't have children.

    HTH. Enjoy your holiday. :D
