We're heading off to the mainland at the beginning of June and DH would love to go for a curry on the Saturday night. Can anyone recommend a good place to go for a curry (Indian) in Glasgow - preferrably a buffet if possible?

Thanks in advance

I like the China Buffet King in Braehead Escape, ( but not so keen on the one in Renfield Street). There is also a nice one down at the bottom end of Sauchiehall Street , near tothe Kings theatre but cant remember what it is called - a few doors down from a Weatherstones pub, past the Dental Hospital

Sorry when you said Curry I presumed you meant Chinese, but I know some people count Indian more as a Curry..

This is very popular for a good curry, excellent service. I think they have photos up of all the celebs who have eaten there.Been a while since I have been but I think you'd have to book as its so popular.

Both of the above have good reputations although I have never been. I also like India Quay along at Finnieston (they have a really nice buffet) and Cafe India has always been good, although I haven't been since they moved premises.

Hi I would recommend the website www.5pm.co.uk and this highlights a number of curry houses and customer reviews. I have used this company on a number of occasions and have been happy with them. Their services are free and all their restaurants offer a discounted rate as a 5pm customer. I think they make their commission through the restaurants. shrewdal

Sorry I didnt like Mr singhs as the service was awful and the currys werent anything to rave about.I wouldnt go back and neither would my friends- same goes for the over-rated cafe india ( I used to work for them a while ago- so definately dont recommend them ).

Their are several buffet Indian curry places on sauchiehall street with competitive prices and some are quite good.
However I would recommend DAKHIN or The DABBA in merchant city- for more of an authentic curry.Again as other OP said try 5pm.co.uk for discount.
Also Mother India near the art gallery gets good reviwes but I have never been.

For anyone in Lanarkshire If you like budget buffets you like I would recommend The Pink turban at waterloo, wishaw.Very cheap- great selection and lovely service. The lunches are a great bargain at about £5 for a 3 course.

I like Kings Lodge on Union Street, not a big selection compared to some of the bigger ones, but the food is nice for a buffet place. China Buffet King on West Nile Street is good and Sauchiehall Street is not too bad either.

defo go for the dhabba or dhakin in the merchant city. Fantastic food and probably the most authentic you could get (my step father in law is indian and in all his years here he thinks they are the best....)
