moving house, broadband and home phone options

hi all

im moving house in a couple of weeks time, broadband and phone line provider at the moment is orange...

when i move into my new house do i need to get a 'BT' line before i can then sort broadband/phone package out or can i simple approach a new provider (whichever is best for me at the time) and cut out BT?

had a terrible experience with BT with out last move and really dont want to go there if i dont have too!

any ideas greatly received.

We are moving house too in 2 weeks.

I decided to continue with BT (I know they are a pain but its tough to avoid them!), ive got the line being installed on the day after we move. I already have the new number and as soon as the line is active ill be getting the O2 home broadband for £7.50 for 10meg.

Ive told BT to move the Direct debit over and turn on paperless billing, taking by BT line down to £11 ish.

Im happy with this, and of course the added benefits of getting £70 from quidco will be nice.

I was also going to move energy provider as the previous tenants are with EDF. I was planning on setting up with scottish power and netting the £100 from quidco. then switching again a few months later to Eon and netting the £70 quidco cash back too.

Cant think of any other money saving tips... can anyone else?

Yes - you'll find you can currently blag another £70 on joining o2 broadband via Quidco - though how long that will remain on offer is unknown - AND don't know where you got the "for 10meg" from - there is Standard which is CAPPED at 8Mbps max, otherwise Premium is uncapped speedwise and CAN be just 3p different over the first year! Do check out my features/comparison/cost document as linked in a couple more threads here, but here's the link to save you researching
