I have a credit card with Lloyds and about 5 weeks ago I got a phone call from a company called MHA who said that my account had been passed on to them for collection and that I needed to set up a payment plan with them. I explained that I knew nothing about this and that I would need some confirmation from Lloyds before I would be happpy to do this. I rang Lloyds and asked them to send out a letter confirming this.
It is now 5 weeks since the initial phone call to Lloyds and I have still not recieved anything from Lloyds despite several phone calls. They keep saying the letter will be in the post in the next day or so and nothing comes. Meanwhile MHA are phoning every day (sometimes more that once a day) and they are becoming more an more agressive and are threatening to take further action. They have also called me at work (I work on an intensive care unit) despite me asking them not to on several occasions.
I dont know what to do now. Im not happy to set up a payment plan with this company without some confirmation from Lloyds first. Any advice please?????

Have you had any correspondence from MHA?
If not insist that everything is in writing and end any calls that you get.
I take it that you acknowledge the debt? Did you get correspondence about missed/late payments prior to the debt being transferred to a collection agency?0 -

Phoning you at work several times and aggression amounts to harassment and against guidelines and you have grounds for complaint. Contact Trustcard collections or customer services and inform them of the situation and if you are behind with payments they should be prepared to help you set up a payment plan. Don't offer more than you know you can repay monthly as it will be important to maintain the schedule.
Refuse to speak to MHA on the phone - insist they put everything in writing and warn them that you will complain to your debt councillor if they persist.
If you can keep a log of dates and times of all future calls from them.
Good luck.
P.S. Martin has an article you can access on the home page - Debt problems - What to do and where to get help.HTH0 -
Nope no corispondence from MHA or Lloyds over this matter. Lloyds just keep saying they will send things out then dont. How do they expect me to sort out payments if they wont confirm things? they are not being very helpful at all. I had no idea they were even going to pass this account along to anyone elseWorking hard to be debt free! :A0

Have a look at their website for the address or telephone number.0 -
I have made a payment to MHA but they are refusing to set up a full repayment plan untill I send them details of my income and expenditure. I really don't want to do this, and they say that without this they wont proceed with a repayment plan and they will take me to court. Can they do this? I have offered to pay them £150 a month which is all I can afford at the moment.Working hard to be debt free! :A0

Was you in arrears with your lloyds tsb credit card?0 -
If you have phoned them and they have said yes, letter is on its way, I would assume you can take it as they have passed the debt over, no? Have you checked your credit files to see how the debt is registered?Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08

I thought you had to get at least a final demand from a CC Company before they send your details to a debt collector?
I have had accounts passed to several debt collectors before (im not proud of this) but they have never asked me to provide an income and expenditure. They tell me to pay 'x' and I normally say you wont get it because I cant afford it but im willing to pay at least 'y' each month and make additional payments as and when I can
That is what I have always done
Might not be helpful info hun but I hope you get the situation sorted out as soon as possible'Sometimes you just need to keep your mouth shut':j0 -
If you can only afford £150 pm then your income and expenditure will show this unless you have something to hide?0
