The Mailing Company ltd

Options
I recently saw an ad in a local shop for people to do envelope filling. It requested so send a SAE to a local address and they would send info. The ad said that for every 100 envelopes that was done I would receive £160.
Today I have received the information, and the company is The Mailing Company Ltd, based in West Glamorgan. It requests £19.99 for the starter pack and this will be refunded after I send them 20 envelopes.

Do you think this is too good to be true?

I would greatly appreciate your comments
Thanks

HMM sounds a bit dodgy to me. thats an awful lot of pay for 100 envelopes!
check out the company if you can (internet?) and ask exactly whats in the starter pack. Surely its not rocket science to be able to put things in envelopes:confused:

I've got a feeling that this company has been trading before from the same area, and I think that it is not recommended to pay out any money for this sort of thing.

The starter pack will tell you how to (at your cost) post adverts similar to the one you originally saw .... with people writing to you .... and you pass their names/addresses on - and that is one of the envelopes out of the 100.

I have just had the information come through for the same company, they want £29.99 in advance which seems dodgy to me. Did you ever join up and find out if they are genuine or not??

Here's link to a company with the same name. Could be worth ringing them to find out if this is anything to do with them?

Personally I would be wary of any company which asks me to pay up front for ANYTHING.

I would be a bit suspicious here - the welsh company has a VERY similar name to a legit looking company based in northants. it may be worth ringing Trading Standards to ask if anything known about the welsh company but tbh I have heard of this envelope stuffing run as a scam before - they always ask for cash upfront.

I looked into this type of thing many years ago.

The information I got (I think I paid about £10 for it) was that I had to have printed (at my own cost) x many letters/leaflets, they had to be on a certain type/quality of paper (again bought by myself), the envelopes had to be of a certain type/quality (which I also had to buy myself) and also had to buy a mailing list too and have the addresses printed on to labels. Finally I had to post the box of filled envelopes to their depot!

I actually researched how much the printing, labels, paper, envelopes and mailing list would cost and realised that I'd make a few pounds for each batch and that was if the returned, addressed envelopes passed their quality control!!

    Please don't be fooled!

    Poo (older and wiser)

P.S. Oh I forgot to mention, the return address for the envelopes was not far from where I worked so I could easily have dropped them off (saving the postage cost) but there was a clause in the information that the returns would only be accespted via the postal service stipulated!
