I want a good vacuum cleaner

I am watching this thread with interest because when our Dyson DC01 finally dies we will have to buy a new cleaner. I have read quite a few comments on different forums that the later Dysons aren't as reliable as the earlier ones so we will probably look for something else. I have found the parts quite easily available for Dyson's though. I have ordered them from the website and they are delivered quite quickly.
It is interesting to see how many people like Henrys because I can't stand them. My sister has gone through three Henry's in the time I have had my Dyson. I have used Henry's a lot at work and hated them.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed suggestions. I have made a note of the names of some of them.0 -

I've had my Dyson for 9 years. The only problem I've had has been the on/off switch, I've ended up sellotaping it down and just turning it on and oss at the plug point. Other than that it has been a good little cleaner, tho reading this thread has reminded me I really must clean the filters! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
