Miele cat and dog. Bought a Dyson just before and returned it as was useless. Really no comparison in suction and quality and was cheaper than Dyson. Very happy with Miele.

Ive got that one and Its really good. Great power and we got ours from John Lewis and got free extended guarentee and they send us 2 filters a year and a box of vac bags!)

We are looking for a smaller/cheaper 2nd vac for upstairs if anyone knows of one? (sorry for jumping in this thread OP!)

Sebo looks quite compact and gets good reviews. I'd look on ebay as I got my Miele on ebay for less.

My sister has a Meile. It broke down after about 4 years of use and they said they would fix it for £70 regardless of what was wrong with it.

I've had 4 upright vacuum cleaners in the last 2 months and not one has been as good as my old Electrolux Boss bagless hoover circa 1996!!

I kept taking them back as when I got them home they all have various issue like the stair hose didn't actually reach more than 1/2 the stairs, the electric cable was not 7m in spec but 5m, loss of suction after 1 day of use and foot release did not release the handle. Oh and they were all heavy even though they said they were light!

Numatic Henry the best, my mum loaned her's to my sister and now my sister is buying one, and my mums getting hers back, my sister <another one, used them in her cleaning job, and the one she got her mum was from her job pre-used, and we've had it 10 years now or more, only thing besides the bags we had to buy was a 1 new hose, it split this year cost £13 to replace.

I've still got a Dyson DC01 which is over 10 years old now, never had a problem with it. But I've never heard a bad word said about the Henry's, few of my friends swear by them.
