Who is aiming to be debt free this year?

Not including student loans I hope to be debt free in the next 3 months. I've been paying at least £150 a month for the last 3 and a bit years and am getting down to the last couple of grand - with the help of making all my friends and family open A and L accounts and getting all my bank charges back from Lloyds. I'm buying a laptop on Sainsburys interest free credit card and hope to pay off the last 2 grand (and the cost of the laptop) through matched betting and generally milking rpoints/quidco/topcashback for all the easy points. I think, but maybe I'm kidding myself, that the outlay for the laptop is essential for me to quickly clear my debt and i reckon it will be worth it. Role on summer! And if, you know, your history...0

I'm aiming to be debt free by Saturday, having scraped enough coppers together to buy a Euro lottery ticket.

I'm aiming to be credit card and loan free by april 2008. The loan finishes october 2007 so if need be I can then throw that payment at the credit card as well and hopefully be debt free earlier. I find MSE is inspirational and keeps my motivation going when those times of "OH STUFF IT" occur. Just be realistic in your aims, keep looking at this site and very soon you will too be posting "DEBT FREE AT LAST" :j MFiT-T7 #17 (Jan 2025) £193k (Apr) £177k (July) £159k (Oct) £139,900 (Jan 2026)

I am hoping to be debt free by Christmas. My predicted date using the snowballing was July 07, but my husband has just been promoted, I am to be made redundant in August and should get about £1700, so I want that to go off my debt. But the big factor will be if I can get another job in September, even if I have to go temping, I am sure it can be done.
Good luck to everyone trying to clear their debts.

I am aiming to be debt free this year.A £1500 windfall from a mis sold endowment has certainly helped, but I am e baying like mad, and doing lots of surveys on the internet to get gift vouchers etc which will save me money on birthday and christmas presents.
I have seriously cut back on my spending too.0 -
Forget this year! This decade would be good!
 :rotfl: 0 -
Definitely - April 06 will be my debt free date - my current debts are in my sig & I have the money waiting in my ISA to clear them. I've had a bit of a windfall with some share sales (takeover @ work) so I'm now just waiting for the ISA interest.
The car loan is the last payment and the credit card debt is at 0% - just waiting for the ISA now!

I keep trying to work out when I'll probably be debt free, but my money is all over the place at the moment from matched betting. I've withdrawn all my spare cash into my bank account, once it hits there I'll see exactly how much I've got (don't 100% trust my spreadsheets!) and then I can calculate debt free day properly.
Once I've worked out when my debt free day is based on purely snowballing with my salary, then any extra cash I make from ebay or car boots or wherever brings me forwards a bit!
I can feel another graph to colour in with felt tip pens coming on...
I think it's christmas-ish based on salary from now on only. Want to bring it forward loads though. Don't know if I will do it though.

Hi,
I should be debt (overdraft) free in June this year! After living in my overdraft since university days (graduated in 2000), it's going to seem very strange not being in the red every day except pay day. I can't wait until all my money is my own & I can start saving. I always thought of my overdraft as my money until I learned better here! Currently reducing overdraft limit by £300 a month. Have also had & paid off a £5,000 graduate loan during this period (with PPI on it, d'oh!).
Thank heavens for MSE & all the wonderful peeps here.
