Hi guys
I have recieved a letter today from a law firm stating I have breached their clients rights by downloading a game that they have made using a program called BITcomet (havent even heard of it). They are saying that I downloaded this game on 3rd of Feb last year.
I do have this game but I bought it from GAME (video game store) at the start of the year (2008). I registered this game with the official website using the serial key that was included in the box.
I have checked with the other members of the household to see if they had downloaded anything and nobody has.
In the letter it is saying that they have gained my information by going to court so that Virgin would release my details. It also says that to stop this going to court I will have to pay £1500 in compensation to the company, which is nowhere near the amount I could expect to pay if it goes to court.
To make matter worse, I was made redundant from my job 3 months ago with a minut severance package. There is no way I can afford to pay £1500, not that I should have to.
I cant understand why they would think I had downloaded this game but I dont think I could take the chance of it going to court and having to pay more.
Can anyone shed any light on it for me, they have given me 21 days to make the payment, so Im trying to get as much information together as possible.
Thanks in advance guys and gals
