ACS Law as found on the Law Society 'Find a Solicitor' search function.

I wouldn't be overly confident that it is a scam.

That's on the assumption that ACS Law has been set up as either a Ltd or LLP comany. They could quite easily have been established as a partnership, in which case they do not need to register themselves with Companies House.

On further investigation it appears that ACS Law as detailed on the Law Society website has a different address to that detailed on the companies house database.

Its entirely possible that the two entries refer to completely different companies.

I have to echo that, they will never be able to prove it was you. If it came to it with me, I would backup what was downloaded (if you still want it) and dban the hard drive if it is on if internal. Unlock my wireless network when they come round and laugh when the "borrow" my PC to check it. But that is if they ever did take it further which I doubt very much due to people being able to do the above and just sit there saying "prove it was me".

Just ignore it. The chances are this is a scam letter. I wouldn't trust it.
  • With out trying to start an argument it's not advisable to ignore the letters till a court summons arrives
should it ever get to a court case , it's not going to look good if no response was given to letters from the solicitors.

There is a site mentioned although I cant directly link you due to being new but Google "beingthreatened.yolasite" and clicking the1st entry will help you understand whats going as well as help you deal with this if you are affected by this

Its seems ACS are steam rolling the letters out as people are now being accused of File sharing !!!!!! .. the titles are fairly nasty sounding as well
