My son, on the advice of the bank, when opening his account, set up a £10 pw standing order to his savings acount each week, which was set up at the same time as the current account. However, his wages for about 10 weeks were paid in about 4pm on a Friday. Consequence, being a teenager, he left no money on the Thursday evening to cover this standing order for Friday, £10 charge per transanction. £100 later he told me and I immediately told him to cancel the standing order. Bank would not budge. Even though it was an internal transaction.
Expensive lesson for him.
