my g/friend has an account with barclays and she keeps getting
guaranteed fees which is £8 a time on her account but she has not gone over her limit and they wont refund them
on her statment from 14th feb to 13th march they say they are taking £40 yet the statment does not show her going over her limit and there is no fees shown apart from what they say they are taking on a separate page what can i do as in the last 2 months or so they have taken over £100
thanks in advance

For each fee she should receive a letter detailing why she's been charged. If she doesn't have these, she can ask a branch to show her - they're easily accessible.

If they were clearly charged as a part of bank error, then they'll be refunded - if they were charged legitimately, it will at least help you understand why, so as to avoid them in future.

the statment only shows 1 charge

if she say buys a pizza using her card the money comes out of her account yet because they dont take the money for the transaction out for another week the date they take the money shows she has no money avalable because it was a few days or week later yet when she purchased it the funds cleared on her account streight away and the bank said they took the funds and put it to one side for the transactions to be collected yet even tho the funds where there when she payed for it and the funds had been removed from her account the day she brought the pizza becuase they collected a few days later when her balance was zero they charged £8 yet the money was there when it was purchesed

When you spend the money you cannot spend it again. If you have made a card payment you need to leave the money in the account until it is debited

Have any of the credits into the account been by cheque because if they have they will often appear on the account the day after being paid in on the statement giving the impression the account has never gone overdrawn but infact it has because of the cheque going through the clearing cycle. This would then generate bank charges becuase funds have been drawn against an uncleared cheque.

Can you clarify, your previous post is very muddled and inconclusive it sounds like you said that example - gf has £10 in account and buys pizza for £8 barclays tag £8 for pizza - few days later pizza shop not claimed so money is untagged, your g/f w/draws £10 leaving £0 - pizza company take £8 leaving £8 o/d and charge??

As said before - the letters will tell you exactly what each charge was for. There's no point in guessing.

Maybe the bank should be efficient enough to send the ruddy letters in the first place!
