Star1979 wrote:I just applied for the NSPCC card. Did anyone else find the final screen slightly confusing. I applied and filled in all my security information but I didn't get any final screen saying if I had been accepted or whether I would get a letter. It all seemed a bit vague???
Should have told you that you had been accepted. Even quotes your card limit there and then too.
Try giving them a ring0 -
Upon applying these are the terms and conditions - (copied from website)
5.2 We may charge a handling fee of 2% (at least £2) for balance transfers and cheques offered at special promotional rates other than a special promotional rate you received when your account was opened.
So from this, you Should not get charged for your balance transfer as you are in the special promotional rate period.
I too have applied (NSPCC) and upon receiving my paperwork, these terms are again mentioned under section 5.2 of the paperwork sent. The agreement you sign does not mention section 5.2 as quoted above. It stops at 4.2
There is however a summary sheet which is not needed to be signed indicating balance transfers are charged 2%, no further clarification.
Therefore this confuses, but the websites original T & C's stated this too, but clarified that they may charge outside the promotional period.
I am returning my application and when i do my balance transfer, expect no fee as mentioned in the website t & c's as i am inside the promotional period.
I will argue the toss big time if they say they will charge.
Will post back soon0 -
I got the Guide Dogs card, same T&Cs as quoted above, so signed and returned. The PIN came today so card probably 2moro, will ring then to do BT to Egg money (stooze time) and will get them to confirm again no BT fee, else all hell will break loose. Will update ASAP0

I got my paperwork over the weekend for the Macmillan Card and started to worry cos it mentioned 2% fee may apply. However, have just called their customer services and they've confirmed twice (the second time she went and checked with someone else) that as long as I transfer my balance in the first 9 months no fee will apply. I'll sign and send the paperwork back and let you know if I do end up getting charged!0

I rang up today to activate my new HBOS Macmillan Cancer Research card and do the initial BT.
The operator told me that a BT fee definitely would apply. I quoted the T&C's (he didn't have a copy!) and asked him to check with a supervisor. He came back eventually to say that he was wrong, and that there would be NO FEE as it is the introductary offer. He then did the BT.
I then had to call another number to set up a direct debit for the card, and they also confirmed that no fee had been added to the BT. I have also just checked my Halifax online banking which shows the correct amount of the BT on the card, with no fee.
If you get someone who thinks there should be a fee, ask them to double check with a supervisor. If they still want to charge you a fee, end the call and try again with another operator!
Mind you, BT was limited to 90% of my credit limit which does NOT seem to be in the T&C's, but this was confirmed by both people I spoke to.0 -
The Customer Stupid Services lot are really unhelpful. When I called to confirm no btf, the girl said that they only did 6 month cards and that I must be mistaken that mine is 9mths. Then she refused to believe that I had 12% APR following introductory offer, saying they did 16% cards.
Needless to say she insisted that there would be a fee but since she doesn't know anything about the product, I am not sure I can rely on this. Tried to call back but just ended up in a huge queueProud to be Dealing with my Debts0 -
which card was that for?0

I rang up cardmembers services today and spoke to someone about this balance transfer fee issue for my Scouts Association card.
He said that there is no balance transfer fee on this card 'at the moment' but they may charge a fee in future and the cardholder will be informed before it happens.
Note that he simply said 'at the moment' rather than no fee during the 1st 9-month introductory period after you open the account and a fee afterwards, etc.0
