I have a pack of 25 dvd-r's. Would these still work in a dual layer dvd writer?

    not entirely true..

i bought a computer may 2008, and in march 2009 it was superseded... 10 months of the same model being out, that anyone could have bought in the march before a newer, slightly shinier model came out..

Really? So you are saying you couldn't buy anything equivalent but more powerful, with larger HD or faster processor or more RAM or more features etc. within 10 months?

Even Apple computers are speed bumped and revamped usually twice a year, but the PC industry faster.

My younger brother has one and loves it. Im not sure though.

Why not have a look and try in John Lewis? They are excellent alternatives.

In the PC industry it's often said that once you've brought something it's out-of-date. Go for the best you can afford at the time, with the option of upgrading later - also steer clear of buying from a shop - buying online is a lot cheaper and the support tends to be better too.

Intel are currently much faster, but again it depends on what your buying and how much it costs.

Totally agree, that's the point I was making earlier.

I work at PC World (yeah don't hate me - I actually try to do _right_ by my customers) and have heard some colleagues come out with some crackers - best so far being "AMD are better for gaming" and "AMD or Intel? makes no difference - they are both dual core!"

    I despair sometimes :X
