I'd recommend using PotatoPotato's method of using a PAYG free SIM card in that location. Preferably test with the phone model you intend to use as well.

The maps are not always an accurate indicator as many objects such as walls can degrade the signal. Even different phones can also vary in signal strength.

I totally agree- remember that they are going to give you the best possible result on their website so you sign up to their network, get a SIM card and try them out.

There maybe some truth to that, however the company I work for use 02 handsets which ironically we have to ring in jobs. All the engineers are going ape due to say voda or orange is working dandy yet we cant finalise a job as 02 has no reception. This is with different handsets also which broadly highlights that networks issues.

I guess they're in a black spot then for O2 reception. I bet you could get the same problem using Vodafone or Orange in another part of the country.

Whatever happened to the global satellite mobile phone network we were promised years ago that was supposed to do away with ropey reception?!

I basically get a direct comparison for every job Geo, by default we install voda as its pre-installed and our work mobiles are on o2. When voda is poor we try out all other networks, I have even been on the sites that power the mobile phone masts, we get to cover a varying section of built-up to middle of nowhere. From my experience even though 02 claim to have this superior coverage its definately a bad performer, bad enough to make me pick a worse handset for more reliable coverage.

My son has just moved into a block of new flats. He is unable to get any reception with his Orange mobile. Upon contacting Orange CS, he got the reply, "We are unable to provide 100% coverage". They suggested that he tried other handsets. This he has done and tried Virgin/Voda sims in other phones and both of these are giving a good reception.

Does he have any rights re his contract? He has been a customer of Orange for 10 years.
