Better rate or windfall hope?

Hiya

I'm pretty new to these boards but love them!

I have a question...

About 5 years ago I opened an ISA at the Leeds & holbeck BS. I didn't have much cash at the time but wanted to open something early so I could benefit if they demutualised (is that a word  ) It only has £12 in. The charitable assignment (saying I would give any windfall to a charitable trust) expired after 5 years (so about now). So now any windfall would be mine.

Now I want to open an isa for regular savings (about £100/month).

Do I go with the L&H (4.25%)? (Does any windwall depend on balance?) or do I chase the best rate (A&L currently).

I have no clue (or certainly inside info) so I don't expect L&H to demutualise any time soon.

So what do you think?

J

Top your ISA up to £100 ASAP, then your a voting member. You need to be a voting member to stand any chance of any future windfall.

If your Leeds ISA is 5 years old it will now be a loyalty ISA with a higher rate.

As for the Leeds Building Society it will demutalise at some point or be taken over, as for the size of the windfall or the timescales nobody knows the answers. Fingers crossed is the best advise.

Top up your Leeds ISA this tax year 2005-6 then in April open a ISA with another Building Society 2 potential windfall may be one day.
