The repairs are "nothing out of the ordinary"??? A new engine??? My 2001 Yaris has done over 125K miles and is due to have its first replacement brake discs next month. Clutch and exhaust are original, wheel bearings fine, it runs perfectly, starts first go every time and does over 400 miles on a full tank of juice. The only part which has failed is the rear wash/wipe motor and I haven't bothered to have it replaced yet. Needless to say, that is a French made part, not Jap.
If I was you I'd leave it unlocked and hope that some scabby hoody nicks it and wraps it around a tree so you can claim the insurance and buy something else!!!!!!!!0 -

did you skim the head when you repaired them as there is a special way that they have to be done not just a simple skim, the ports also need to be re-cut
Ports re cut ?0 -

I wouldnt call a new engine "nothing out of the ordinary". The Rover K series engine is well known and one of its major issues is the way it is assembled,i.e its major block components are clamped together with long bolts rather than bolted together in sub assemblies hence the propensity for leaky head gaskets and air leaks.0

You mean have the water ways cleared out ?
And only have the head re skimed if absolutely necessary as you will remove the hardness of the head.0 -
no it is essential on the 'K' series that the head is skimmed correctly otherwise the fault will reccurI

Take it from me it's not
if it does need skimming then yes it needs to be done correctley but do not skim it unless it's absolutely necessary as said above.:)0 -
