We are redoing our bathroom, and have been advised to get a new shower as ours is pretty old, and we have lots of limescale.
Had a quick look at b&q today, and have fallen in love with this one
Does anyone have any experience with Mira showers-are they any good? Or can anyone recommend a similar style of shower that is any good, am willing to pay up to £300. We have good pressure, so just need a mixer shower.

When my house was refurbished last year I opted for a Grohe as I'd only heard good things about them.
I'm more than happy with my choice. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Mira showers are one of the best on the market, have had them in our last two properties and no problems, we had a new bathroom fitted in our last house and had one of their thermostatic mixers fitted, would thoroughly recommend them.0

Thank you very much. Do you have a deluge/rain head? If so how practical is it, and does it clog up with limescale? We live in a very hard water area... My mum has a rainhead shower and she says it uses tons of water and she hardly uses it, but it looks really good!0

Mira are probaby the UKs leading shower company
Another brand to look at is hansgrohe, i prefer the look and feel of there stuff but is a little more than the mira itemHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Thanks again. Does anyone have any experience with a rain head? Are they impractical water wasting, limescale havens? Or is it worth the money? (we don't have a water meter, we do have a combi boiler0

We have fitted quite a few of the big shower heads over the years to mixed reviews - some people love them but in my opinion the majority don't. Main problem is that with one of these heads you are pretty well stuck with standing in the same place with the head above you with very little adjustment. Some showers which are a bit dearer have a rail kit which has a hose attachment as well as a fixed head which I personally prefer, also even with a good pressurised combi some people can be a bit dissapointed with the performance as these heads usually have quite a high water flow rate through them and they tend to work better with a pressurised hot system i.e. megaflo/acv or sim - obviously with a hose and shower head you get the flexibility - ideal for washing kids hair etc and for hosing down sides of shower doors etc for cleaning - hope this may help a bit- decisions decisions:rotfl:BORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE

We put in a new shower last year (and we have a combi boiler.) It has both a fixed rain head and a moveable baton hand set. The rain head does get a bit clogged up from time to time (we live in a hard water area). Then you have to unscrew the head and rinse it out but it is not a big deal and it is very nice to use. The moveable baton handset can be slid up and down the main shower pole (and used as an alternative shower head) or used with its flexible hose. I recommend this combination - and bar type controls (turn one side for water pressure and the other for temperature).0

Good morning: What model combi do you have? Choose a thermostatic shower mixer suitable for high pressure systems... the OH recommends, fit and repairs Mira, Aqualisa and Grohe. Limescale is a major problem here in the southeast and shower heads require frequent descaling (unless you have a water softener).
The Bathroom Academy (part of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association) has several useful guides available for download on all things bathroom related.
Btw...good advice from cayeles

thanks everyone
Didn't want a fixed head only, so looking at the ones with an extra handset too. Have seen really nice grohe set without a fixed head, and at 100 less than the mira-its a strong possiblilty (can also get really nice matching taps for the bath)
Combi is a halstead quattro gold, its on the list for replacement, but more pressing issues at moment (aren't there always ?)0
