I'm not much on routes and maps but don't you just take the M5 from the Midlands to the M4 (J48) all the way down to Llanelli?

My suggestion would be Carreg Cennen Castle, which is very close. Spectacular scenery, with some lovely walks, and a nice pub nearby to rest your feet. The area really is special.

If you intend going, take a torch and you can explore the cellars of the castle as well

As the weather seems to be turning, our trip next week could be a wet one ...

Any further INDOOR suggestions? Thanks to all posters so far ... buttons have been clicked :-)

    Indoor Suggestions:-

Try National Waterfront Museum in Swansea, its free & brand new with lots of gadgets to play with. Depending on your level of interest, you could spend a couple of hours there if its rainy.

Oh, you could try the Afan Lido - swimming pool in Port Talbot, proably one of the best in the area for slides and fun things. Also National Swimming Pool in Swansea. Its new and very modern olympic sized pool. There is also a Megabowl and UCI Cinema in Swansea.

    Other suggestions:
For outside walks nearbyish, there is Pembrey Country Park, and the Millenium Coastal Path in Llanelli and the surrounding areas. In Llanelli you can hire bikes to use on the coastal path for about £3/hr.

Depending on your level of childishness!!? - I like Folly Farm, near Tenby - you can feed baby goats, milk a cow, go on a tractor ride.. etc, plus there are other farm type animals and others such as Lemurs, Llamas, Kangaroos etc. Its mainly for children, but adults enjoy it too! Costs approx £6 for adults.

Thats all I can think of at the moment, Hope you enjoy your break!

The old museum next door is more interesting. Also nice cafe attached to new museum.

Changing rooms are a bit smelly but you will miss the busy Easter Holidays which start from Good Friday

Some parts of the Coastal path have been damaged by storms in the last week.

It's brill and there is an olde fashion fun fair. You buy special tokens to ride. Not nearly as expensive as normal funfairs.

Oakwood park has also got a new ride. The best in the UK according to BBC news.

Was just having a look through all my thread subscriptions and having a clearout of them and thought I'd update the thread incase anyone searched for it!

The first day we were there we visited the mumbles. V.nice area, not alot on the beach front but there doesn't have to be! From what we could see there are two main cafes on the front. The first one looked rather expensive offering big fancy ice creams and coffee etc. However, there is another one further up by the pier that was just as nice and cheaper!!!

Second day it rained, well, it was Wales wasn't it! We decided to go to McArther Glen, the discount outlet shop. Some shops there are some real bargains, others items reduced from £100 to £60 when the item was is probably worth £30. lol. If you go checkout the Thorntons shop, lots of close to the sell by data choccys going cheaper!

Third day was spent in Tenby, highlight of the trip. Sunny weather, beautiful beach and lots of nice shops. Watch out for parking if you go. Don't just follow the road and hope you'll find parking because like me and alot of other drivers at the time you will eventually end up at a dead end by the beach! If you see a Parking sign, follow it! lol. Lots of quaint little shops in the small town. We would have gone on the boat to Canvey Island but felt the wind was a little too high and the fact we didnt have long before we needed to set off home. If your in the area, would defo. recommend a visit!

Thanks for all your help people, much appreciated. I think all the thankyou buttons have been pressed :-)
