Play are Jersey based and not bound by english law so the DSR doesnt apply.

OP seems to do this quite often so has probably already decided what to do before posting anyway.

Since the 1st March 2008 Jersey has its own DSR. As this follows the standards set by EC directives for consumer protection, it is essentially the same as the DSR for the UK mainland. . Trading standards in Jersey are the body responsible for enforcement

Incorrect! From a "Business Guide to DSR" Page 22

Can a consumer cancel an order before they receive the
goods or where goods are lost in transit?

3.35 Yes. Where the DSRs give consumers rights to cancel, this right is
unconditional. If consumers cancel before they have received the
goods you must refund the total price of the goods, including any
    delivery charges.
Consumers who have cancelled under the DSRs
may refuse to accept delivery of the goods. Refusal in such a
situation cannot be treated as a breach of contract.

So inform them you are cancelling,(an e-mail would be the quickest and acceptable way to do this).

    .

I have just been reading the same document in response to another thread and came across this very section and my eyes lit up. I then decided to come here and update the thread with the information, but you beat me to it. :) (Sorry I haven't visited this thread since my last post.)

Anyway, it's all academic now. Before I knew the above information, I decided I couldn't really be arsed with the potential hassle, especially considering past experience with Play and what they said on the phone, so I kept it. :o

As far as the matter of Play being in Jersey, I don't know. But at least I know my (UK) rights a little better. Thanks all. :money:

I guess there is a message to do your research better before clicking on the buy button.

I always research a purchase for several days before making it. I check price comparison sites, cashback sites, voucher sites, forums. After I've spent literally hours looking for the best product and the best price, I then make the purchase.
