Well - as well as the gates swallowing tickets when they're not supposed to, how are people supposed to get out if they haven't got a ticket? What if there was a fire? What if someone or a small child gets trapped in a gate?

  • There ought to be signs telling you not to put it in the barriers if you intend to carry on using as per the conditions. Starting a journey before 04:00 the next morning is the LT rules - a travelcard is obviously controlled by LT, so their rules override the usual British Rail ones that say a ticket is valid until 02:30 (or is it 02:59 now?).

So your one of those people who say there has to be a sign for everything.

There must be a sign to say that the tracks are dangerous.
There must be a sign to say sticking your fingers in the plug sockets might kill you.
Perhaps there should be a sign to say how to put a ticket in the barrier. Oh and what about one saying how to buy a ticket in the first place. What about one about abuse to staff. Then there's the it might be dangerous to get on the train when the doors are closing. Must not forget the let people off the train first sign.

Sorry but whatever happened to common sense in this world?
We never had so many signs in the late 80's. People had common sense then.

No. I think that people believe a Travelcard is a multi-journey ticket, which once you leave Greater London is no longer the case. There obviously need to be a sign to tell the staff to open the barriers when they go to the pub. Just because you know the ins and outs of the ticketing system, most railway staff do not, and the public certainly do not.
