Madain mhath Mike. Ha mi'n Tearaschdach. I am from Tiree. I wish someone would give me a job on one of the islands. Can you PM me who gives out island jobs. One of the English companies once offered me a job opening a bank a/c in Stornoaway. Now it was have cost me £200 to fly there. And coming from a Hebridean island everyone spots a stranger and they all ask who you are, And don't you think the bank would wonder why someone would travel up from Glasgow to open a bank account. I phoned them and they said could I not drive up!!!!! It is 7 hours drive to Ullapool then 4 hours on the ferry. I would have needed to stay overnight. They said they would increase the fee to £25. When I had finished rolling about the floor laughing I declined their kind offer.
Any other Gadhlig speakers on here.
I just pick up Island jobs as normal visits nowadays as I visit the Islands each month with my main job so I tend to tie up the visits with the main job visit, so Stornoway, Kirkwall, Portree, Lerwick are listed as some of my postcodes.
I still occasionally get a flight paid for by one MS company for going to Stornoway for one particular job but I dont get any time payment, its just a flight reimbursement - From Inverness I dont mind really as its just a 5 hour morning trip to do. I even just walk to and from the Airport to save on Taxi fares! They act as my loss leader jobs.
Loganair moving to the Flybe Franchise has helped as well as if you take a gamble, and pre-book your flights a few months ahead they are dirt cheap, but you have to be confident that you will pick up certain jobs without anything official from the MS Company.
The MS companies do tend to be very flexible with dates though if you say well actually, i am going a week later or a week before - if it's an Island job I have never yet seem them refuse to later a date to fit your travel plans. The best for this used to be Gyp once upon a time, they paid for me to regulalry fly to Western and Northern Isles but those days disappeared over 24 months ago with gyp.

I'm just back from a busy morning.
Did my TNS supermarket shop - nightmare - I'd forgotten what mayhem supermarkets are on Friday mornings! That and is was pi$$ing down with rain, the only space I could find was by a huge puddle and my feet got soaked, oh, and I couldn't get down most of the aisles because of the abundance of people with those huge great home shopping trolleys. Never again!!!!
Then I went to Lakeside and have done a Gap coffee shop and 2 Gap phone shops, the nodding dog for RE, and a bank, spicy electrical store and phone shop for GR. Actually did two phone shops for GR, as got there to discover there were 2, one on level 1 and one on level 2 and I didn't know which I had to do!
Tomorrow I've got another TNS supermarket which I'm seriously thinking of cancelling, and Halle-Bop electrical shop for GR.We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hope you left the coffee shop til last -you probably needed it by then !!
Supermarket on a Saturday Eeeek !!
I don't go quite as far as Lakeside but do quite well at Bluewater- I have two there tomorrow morning keep hoping a third will pop up but no luck.
Just waiting for the washing to finish and off out to do a pub lunch and a flutter on the geegees.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I did a load at Bluewater on Tuesday. Are you doing a GR phone job there tomorrow? I saw that on the site for ages but it was a weekend visit and I don't go there at weekends unless absolutely necessary! We’ve had to remove your signature. No missed that oneI got a doggie music and a posh sandwich there tomorrow. I'll be hitting early and getting out hopefully ahead of the crowds as I'm working from home from 3 anyway.
I forgot I had a GR account til this week. Used to MS for them a couple of years ago. My home postcode is a bit too far so I added it as work yesterday and today I saw my first B/W job pop up there.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Crazee!
If I walked into somewhere and all the staff are wearing masks I'd be going home!
Tumbleweeds are blowing by on my weekend, only had one job all week in fact. However my OH is being offered loads that I can't see, very annoying when three of them are in the town where I work, 25 miles from where we live and not somewhere he ever has cause to go to! He has a staggering 13 jobs this weekend (and another 4 today), as well as another 7 on Monday. This is spread over 3 towns in a long line of about 20 miles though. Monday adds another two bookies, three phone shops, a bank and another travel agents. Think I must have upset the MS Gods if he can get offerered all this work and nothing is showing up for me! Either that or its just luck of the Irish.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and it stays sunny.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
