This is definitely not a scam, it's a genuine assignment. I've had these emails before and also got this most recent one.
The whole point is for people to realise that this involves a credit check and to make up their own minds whether they want to go for it or not. That's why the company are offering such a good fee.
I emailed and phoned the company last night and got several calls back saying this was a genuine offer so I have expressed my interest in taking part but will tread very carefully with this one and ask a lot of questions if they get back in touch. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

I dont have a mortgage I have a landlord and tenancy and hence this is not an option for me. If I went Ltd I would have to get premises to work from.
I guess you can claim VAT back off of anything you have bought as an expense as well. Not sure about other things but I would presume they must be all the same as with the other work you currently do so I would just be doing everything the same. Oh I might have misread this did you mean 1st accounts with MS included or 1st accounts as Ltd? My response was for the first thus do the same as before. Do you use an accountant to check before year end?
If you go LTD, you are just using your home address as a "registered office", unless you have a premises to run it from. Running a LTD from home is extremely viable, I am self employed taxi driver and use my LTD company number to make tax returns easier, not to mention claming VAT back (but only if you register for VAT in the first place) You are not doing anything wrong using your address as an office, your tenancy agreement says you can not "trade" from home, meaning you cant open up a showroom or shop. One of the reasons that tenancies say this is the Landlords Insurance would be void, and also its courteous to your neighbours. But my landlady, and landlords I have had in the past, have all been fine with using the address as a registered office
I would however only recommend to go LTD if you have other business interests - merely a few pounds on the side from doing MS would not be worth the time in registering to Companies House.0 -
Thank you DetbHater - I can understand in your case that your job would not effect your tenancy. On the other hand my letting agency is not the best (we had to move out for 7 months - cause landlord was trying to sell and then moved back in) so I would not want to risk it. I do not need to have to move out again because they want to try to sell again
also keep getting asked if we want to buy the house.... do they not think we would have bought something if we were able to
on a different note Jdan9 I saw your alert thread - Ive done the application and sending the letter off tomorrow. I presume they are a good company to work for?0 -

I presume you're talking about emysteryshopper rather than TNS? The work is mostly visit only, no purchase, but I have done purchase assignments too (got some nice flowers from John Lewis last mother's day). The pay isn't amazing, but I always think that you put effort in in proportion to what you're being paid, so I tend to work through them quite quickly.
Thanks, btw, for finding the link yourself from the name. The number of idiots who get given a company name and can't be a***d to google it to find the website, and instead expect you to do it for them, really annoys me sometimes! :beer:Dan

Do you do many visits for EMS? I've only ever done two (mob phone and hardware) most of mine just seem to be online reviews. I have done several online purchases though and like these :beer:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
