If you go LTD, you are just using your home address as a "registered office", unless you have a premises to run it from. Running a LTD from home is extremely viable, I am self employed taxi driver and use my LTD company number to make tax returns easier, not to mention claming VAT back (but only if you register for VAT in the first place) You are not doing anything wrong using your address as an office, your tenancy agreement says you can not "trade" from home, meaning you cant open up a showroom or shop. One of the reasons that tenancies say this is the Landlords Insurance would be void, and also its courteous to your neighbours. But my landlady, and landlords I have had in the past, have all been fine with using the address as a registered office

I would however only recommend to go LTD if you have other business interests - merely a few pounds on the side from doing MS would not be worth the time in registering to Companies House.

Thank you DetbHater - I can understand in your case that your job would not effect your tenancy. On the other hand my letting agency is not the best (we had to move out for 7 months - cause landlord was trying to sell and then moved back in) so I would not want to risk it. I do not need to have to move out again because they want to try to sell again also keep getting asked if we want to buy the house.... do they not think we would have bought something if we were able to :eek:

on a different note Jdan9 I saw your alert thread - Ive done the application and sending the letter off tomorrow. I presume they are a good company to work for?

This is the first yer of being a ltd co and my first accounting in Sept. I have an accountant and I am following his advice at the moment.

I presume you're talking about emysteryshopper rather than TNS? The work is mostly visit only, no purchase, but I have done purchase assignments too (got some nice flowers from John Lewis last mother's day). The pay isn't amazing, but I always think that you put effort in in proportion to what you're being paid, so I tend to work through them quite quickly.

Thanks, btw, for finding the link yourself from the name. The number of idiots who get given a company name and can't be a***d to google it to find the website, and instead expect you to do it for them, really annoys me sometimes! :beer:

Do you do many visits for EMS? I've only ever done two (mob phone and hardware) most of mine just seem to be online reviews. I have done several online purchases though and like these :beer:

Nope, no new ones have arrived, but one of the ones I did do has disappeared along with the one that couldn't be done! And I've been told that the circuit fee is now half of what it was supposed to be!

I received the cheque for my first job yesterday. It was online purchase and they paid me more than the cost of the purchase.:p The 2nd one was not vetted yet.
