Does confused.com do a credit search?

I noticed too that confused.com require telephone number and mother's maiden name as a condition of membership. Quite unnecessary data mining in my view.
More than that, their privacy statement says if you arrived there via a price comparison site link, they share your details with them (so they may contact you by phone, mail, email etc.) if you take out a policy unless you tell the site you came from not to. Who would have thought of that?
I was about to use Confused.com, but thinking about it, I've decided such sites are the most efficient system yet devised to spread your data to the most number of random people.
I'll stick to paying the (not very good) AA brokers too much for house insurance, thanks. ...Unless anyone's got any recommendations?0 -
Do what everyone else does and dive your tele number as 01234 5678900

They can't have many customers then, because it's an "invalid phone number".0

Thats precisely why people enter their number as that one0

You mean it accepts it after flagging it in red as invalid?
And what about all the other details necessary for an accurate home insurance quote?0
