will her dropping out cause all her friends to have to pay more or can she just not turn up at the airport [ she has paid it all off!]

hope one of you experts can help!

If she has paid it all off i cant see that there would be a problem for any of the others if she just didnt turn up. Seems a shame to waste it. All she would need surely is spending money. Could she not sell it to another friend or even
claim on her insurance (if she has taken any out that is)

If she just doesn't turn up - fine. Shouldn't be a problem.

If she cancels (even if she gets nothing back) then it's possible that the remainder of the party would have to pay more.

why would the rest of the party have to pay more?

If the price per person depended on the number travelling - it is often the case with package holidays.

ahhhhhhhhh this is the problem , she is going in to cancel it tommorrow , on the sheet they got printed out each booking was like on a seperate sheet with there names and what they had paid etc.... online [first choice] it says that in most cases 56 days before they will get 50% of money back..

maybe i should ring in morning making a general enquiry about a 'friend' saying if they cancel a package holiday would they get money back and what if they just did not turn up at the airport....see what they say.

    anyone else got any idea

If they each have individual booking references it sound more like they all booked individually rather than as a group. One of a group cancelling will impact the whole group, but if they are all seperate and they each have their own room etc then I cant see it will impact the others. Suggests she asks the question before cancelling.

Take it she hasnt got insurance as im sure 1st choice were promoting redundancy cover along with thomsons, so if she does have insurance thats her 1st route, if not the lead passenger (probably wont discuss it with anyone else unless its hypothetical questions) on the booking needs to ask the travel agents what their options are. Once she has the options she can then make a decision, it may not cost them extra if she cancels, or what about a name change if theres still more than 56 days to go, if its 100% loss of her money then it wont make any difference if she doesnt go as she's not going to get any money back. Personally i would still go if she's lost her job she'll need cheering up and she may find another job soon.
Have just noticed they booked on line so no good asking travel agent could be a long time on the telephone on an expensive number. Good luck let us know the outcome.

    she did not have insurances
she went in today and said it would be ok to cancel as she paid the whole lot so she would get some money back and it wouldnt effect the other girls .

but the lead passenger would have to come in to confirm it,

the lead passenger now refuses to do so and says her sister is taking my sisters place...thus going on a holiday for £50[name change charge] and that there is nothing my sister can do!!!

i think this is very unfair but i dont think there is anything my sister can do now is there?? her so called 'friend'[the lead passenger] has turned into a complete cow....

Hi the lead passenger cant kick your sister off the booking without her putting it in writing, tell the travel agent what is occurring so they know, a name change cant be done without your sisters permission. If i was your sister i would stand my ground and prefer to lose all my money than let her sister go for £50. If she can get all her money back then thats what should happen, then the girl can pay to add on. Its surprising how many people find out their true friends in situations like this, what do the other girls in the party think to it.
