Vent about the rudeness of some posters

There are apparently quite a number of people on MSE who delight in making patronising, gloating, demeaning and just plain B***** rude comments to posters who are genuinely looking for constructive advice. This isn't limited to MSE - the same thing happens elsewhere.

I assume that these people are the same folks who like to be unpleasant bullies to other people in their everyday lives - like at work, in shops etc. Its impossible to say anything to them about their nasty ways - you just get a mouthful back.

Upsetting people seems to give them some joy in their petty little lives so best to ignore them.

    The flip side is

Some posters do really daft things then come looking to be vindicated
Often you will see a nasty post appear after several others have tried to give advice & it is not being taken, the later poster may then think faff it i'm going to type what they are saying in a blunter way

There are also dinosaurs on here who prowl it like it's their domain, and you should bow & scrape just because they have been here so long

Many people who are vocal in type are far from it in civillian life
"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.

This has all been thrashed out before and makes not one iota of difference, the vultures still circle.I bet they were either bullied or bullies at school. The choice is stand up to them(which i do)or ignore them, but above all REPORT THEM to the mods.

I'm fairly thick skinned and can take it in my stride (usually) but I don't like to see other more sensitive souls being upset when what they really need is helpful advice.

I have had reply to my posts that seem rude and I am sure that some people may have read some of my posts and thought them rude.

It can be hard to pick up on the intent of a written message especially as with me, English was not my best subject at school and my sentences are not well put together.

Of course there are the just plain rude out there too!

I have been a member here for quite a while, but not posted much.
I thought I might get involved more though...
I posted on a thread today about benefits and 2 or 3 people [one especially] have made the most judgemental and rude posts I've seen on forums of this kind [i.e. which are set up to help]

I wanted to discuss debt elsewhere on here, but now I feel that these members who are all superior in attitude, will just pounce and criticise me for having debt in the first place. It really feels like an unfriendly place to post on now, although I'm sure it's not and I saw really sensible knowledgeable posts on that thread as well.

This sounds wimpy, and I'm not really - but I am really stressed over the debt and illness and stuff - and I'm sure there must be many in the same boat as me, if not worse.

How are these people continuing to post?
The first rude judgemental post I saw from one was made weeks ago.
Perhaps re reading your own post might help you a little, you were not exactly very polite or friendly either.

I thought with the banning of Uktim and some of his aliases - the board had actually got better of late but I could be wrong.
