I've always found the process relatively easy. Hopefully if you were to get verified again with another card, the previous problems that you encountered would have been rectified.

I didn't find the process easy (we are talking several years ago though). For me the expanded use transactions always failed. I guess it was something to do with my card provider. In the end I had to fax my driving license, credit card and various other stuff to paypal in the states and they verified me about 2 weeks later.
Then for a few years my address has been "not verified", presumable mastercard was not passing the info back to paypal. But sometime in the last few months I see my address has become verified too.0
