I usually put at the bottom of my listings :

"Bidders with zero feedback to contact me BEFORE bidding else bid WILL be cancelled"

Now.... this doesn't stop them bidding (because buyers are still thick and don't read the full terms), but I make damm sure I DO cancel the bids. >:(
and then block the bidder immediately, so they can't bid again.

I asked ebay, if I could stop bidders with zero feedback rating from bidding on my items, they wont let me.

I checked out lawnet's feedback where I found an interesting negative reply from a buyer....

Unfortunately "new camera phone" actually had a !!!!!! picture already on it!

  • If you go into your seller prefrences you can alter Buyer requirements

    Block buyers who:

Are registered in countries to which I don't ship

Have a feedback score of -1 or less

Have received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days

I know it doesnt block bidders with zero feedback but at least it is a safegaurd against persistant troublemakers. ::)
  • can i just ask you guys a question?? if you wont accept bids from people with zero rating then how are people ever supposed to get a rating at all????????? ???

As mentioned above, in the item listing you ask for those with zero feedback to contact you prior to the auction ending so you can find out more about them and whether they are worth risking.

I found selling a couple of items (computer games for £10 or less) got my feedback started with no problems.

You get your feedback, by buying from traders with ebay shops, or traders who make it their business to trade on ebay and have the time and patience to deal with morons who jump into the auction without reading fully what they are getting into. :)

    none intended ;D ;D

Regarding BUY IT NOW auctions being "wrecked" - there is now a BUY IT NOW + IMMEDIATE PAYMENT REQ'D option, where the item remains available to other bidders until a PayPal payment has been completed.

I don't know if this option is available to everyone, it's just something I've noticed whilst browsing, and once I did try to buy something thus listed but eBay or PayPal were glitching and I couldn't complete it. I did get it later.
